Hi, I'm Lindsey. I've spent twenty years inside cultural organizations

Over the last twenty years, I’ve been leading teams, directing research, and designing programs that connect organizations to the communities they serve. I understand the passion practitioners, leaders, and organizations bring to this work and have also seen the gap between what we intend for our communities and what they actually experience. Lightbox Creative is here to bridge that gap.

I partner with museums, gardens, libraries, and civic organizations to explore the questions that matter most: What do our communities need, want, and expect from us? How do we know if we are bringing meaningful, relevant, and valuable experiences to the table? And how do we build the internal capacity to keep asking and acting on what we find?

My approach is rigorous and relational. I bring mixed-methods research skills, deep museum learning and engagement fluency, and believe that the best work happens with people, not just for them. I've led human-centered design engagements alongside IDEO, audience-centered initiatives at the Denver Art Museum and Denver Museum of Nature & Science, developed innovative programs for people of all ages, built the research program and strategy at Khan Academy, and facilitated system-wide change for public library systems.

I'm based in Portland, Oregon and in Denver, Colorado. Lightbox Creative works with organizations of all kinds, nationally.

I'd love to hear what you're working on.
